Welcome to my scrapbook. Here you'll find old images and projects that don't relate to my schoolwork.

Ooey Fashion

I'd pretty much forgotten that I'd taken photos at this year's ID fashion show. Probably because this kind of thing isn't really my forte or of particular interest to me.
Anyways, I still thoroughly enjoyed shooting this show, and it seems a shame that I haven't put up any of my photos, so here they are.

Left or Right CD Release (from March)

This is just one of my better live music shoots from this year so far.

The below image was featured in The Southland Times.

Rarotonga

Sometime at the end of 2008 I was lucky enough to go on a trip to Rarotonga. Here's the photos I took in my spare time.

Rubix Series

I just had a massive scare. I went to post this entry only to realize that I couldn't find the image I had hoped to post on my hard drive. Luckily it was just a combination of my natural retardation and Saturday night inebriation that had lead to my inability to see the file sitting right before my eyes.

So, this is a project I created for fun (yes that's right, FUN) during my first and last year at SIT in 2008. I was desperate to get out of the place and decided to create a rubik's cube themed portolio as my ticket to anywhere but Invercargill. This was the result of a long shoot against the aqua blue of the walls in my room. The shoot consisted of at least 2 more final images, but in hindsight there were many problems with them.

The other thing you're likely to notice is that the top image is where the banner for this blog is cropped from.

Spooky

One night not so long ago whilst attempting to work on my project I did this experimental shoot.
I turned off all but one light and started skulking around the house playing with long exposures as to create ghost -like translucent figures.

The end result was this, and although I don't like it enough to ever use it for anything, I figured it was worth posting here.

The Chronicles of Orini

Ok, so my plan from now on is to post something on here every day. To start off with it's all going to be stuff from the archives, but when I run out of old photos I'll have to make sure I'm always working on new ones.

Today's pictures are more photos of where I grew up in Orini, taken when I was in 6th and 7th form.

An Appropriate First Post

Above is an image from my very first digital SLR shoot in 2006. Inspired by a class on 35mm photography which taught me the basics of manual camera operation, I took a classic still life object and waited for "the golden hour" with my Dad's old Minolta Dynax 5D.

The first images I processed from this shoot were imbalanced and noisy, but a year later I stumbled upon the files again and produced this in Photoshop 7, my first successful digital image.
